Why I Walk the Whole Space Before We Clean
One thing about me: before we clean a single thing, I walk the whole space. Every room, every floor, every corner. I’ve got to know what we’re working with.
Why the walkthrough matters
It sounds simple, but skipping it is one of the biggest mistakes I see new cleaning business owners make. A walkthrough helps you:
- Quote accurately. You see the real condition of the space, not what someone describes over the phone.
- Catch the extras. Inside the oven, heavy buildup, pet hair, construction dust. Note them so they’re priced in, not done for free.
- Protect your rate. Underquoting a job means you’re working for less than you’re worth.
- Plan the clean. You know what supplies to bring, how many people you need, and how long it’ll really take.
- Set expectations. Your client knows exactly what’s included, and so do you.
Questions to ask before you quote a commercial job
Commercial walkthroughs need even more detail. Before I price any commercial cleaning job, I want to know the square footage, scope of work, cleaning frequency, floor types, number of restrooms, foot traffic, who supplies the products, the schedule, and any special cleaning needs. I break it all down here:
We do this on every job
Whether it’s a home, an office, or a building fresh out of construction, our team walks it first. It’s how we make sure nothing gets missed, especially on big jobs like post-construction cleaning and commercial cleaning.
Building your own cleaning business? Pair this with finding the right commercial clients and knowing when to raise your prices.
